Kinematic Mysterium & opening :: underground city

Dienstag/Tuesday. 03. Nov. 2009 20:00 Uhr

Labfactory, Vienna, Praterstrasse 42/1/3, (U1 Station: Nestroyplatz)

opening :: underground city

As announced to a circle of people LABfactory enacts the start of the project underground city 21 - from the very beginning
The real start was different ... but what does real mean ...
as reality is a virtual construction of our minds.
A project not just taking up the topics of underground societies and social structures, but also practically establishing a platform
under the surface of current mainstream society.
The platform is actually a fractal were the artistic and discursive particular projects are mirroring the over-all-project as total by,
still independent and self-consistent, being a part of it.
Every physical space enacting and producing an artwork or other action in these terms becomes a (temporary) gate to UC21 - underground city 21.
The artists becoming citizens by acting in the frame of UC21.

The first honorary citizens of UC21 entering the world of silence with their ideas, skills and action, entering through the gate of LABfactory are:
Erik Alalooga and Mai Sööt (Tallinn / Estonia)

>Kinematic Mysterium< start at 20:30

Erik Alaloogas approach is to establish a sculpture of enacted objects and social structure built up by the audience in their actions and decisions to visualize the trigger-situations.

The project visualizes the mechanisms and systems reglemented and controlled through cipertexts and creats a sculpture out of the act of decoding.

>kinematic mysterium< is working with a transdisciplinary approach to sculpture as a imaginary object raised and realized by a number of people in co-operation with the artists concidering the action of creation as the only way of perception.

About "Manic.Fiction": Curator Lucas Czjzek has put together a collection of videos* produced by artists connected via sonance.artistic.network in Vienna, Austria titled “Manic.fiction – re.sonance.dvd.007″. “I think people in wealthy parts of the world are living within a manic fiction, broadcasting that production is the only worthy thing to do. This will force people to forget about the value of inactivity and the opportunity of downtime. Manic.fiction approaches the need to reduce speed and rethink time,” says producer Simon B. Haefele.

*Videos by: Julia Staudach, Robert Mathy, Bernhard Loibner, Chris Haring / liquid.loft, Stefan Nowak & Julian Palacz, Urs Dubacher & Bernhard Witz, BBB Johannes Deimling, Motto Luxus, Coelestine Engels, Marlene Hausegger & Uli Kühn, Daniel Kauer, Fritz Zorn, Simon Kogler, Alec Kinnear, Neil Curtis, Christoph Schwarz, ubermorgen feat. Your-Self-Research-Station: "How do you use art?"

Installation: “Your-Self-Research” by Simon B. Haefele
Starting point of research on “The Effect of Art on Disputed Boundaries” in Estonia.

Presented on the Festival “Seahank” (Pigskin) in Haapsalu, Estonia.
Materials: 1 DV-Camera, 1 Flat-Screen, DV-Tapes; Copyright 2009 Simon Häfele

The installation “Your-Self-Research” was an integral part of the International Performance Art Festival “Seahank” of the curators and Toomik Jaan Eerik Alalooga in Haapsalu, Estonia. On 31st of July 2009 Simon B. Häfele installed the “closed-circuit-installation” at the entrance of a former cabarets from the Soviet era, the major venue of the festival. The interactive work provided the opportunity to ask and answer the basic question “HOW DO YOU USE ART?”. The artist invited the visitors (approx. 350) to place themselves in front of the running camera and thus in the monitor to effect an inner dialogue. Questions and answers were recorded during the entire presentation.

ECONOMY CLASS @ the Alliance Francaise in Nairobi

The entire ECONOMY CLASS project exclusively relies on the effective networking within the community, which clearly contrasts it from institutionalised cultural activities. This results in an organic social structure, which has grown within just a few days, and can be considered as a work of art in its own right.
